Oracle creates over 5,000 leads for midmarket ISVs

The first phase of Oracle's lead-generation project for midmarket-focused ISVs has proved to be a great success, with over 5,000 leads generated by Oracle for its ISV partners.

Designed as a "one-stop-shop" for small and medium-sized businesses, the Oracle SMB Network is a portal where SMBs can log in and search for software applications that meet their pressing business requirements.

In its pilot phase, the portal featured more than 1,000 software solutions offered by Oracle's ISV partners. It was complemented by a CD featuring the solutions available and a brochure, which Oracle marketed to over a million organisations in France, Germany and the United Kingdom.

To date, IT buyers and recommenders from more than 5,000 small and midsize organisations have registered on the SMB Network and searched for business solutions ranging from business intelligence tools to project management and financial accounting software. All leads are qualified by telemarketing and then passed by Oracle to the appropriate partner, who can log in to a centrally-managed portal site to view, manage and track them.

The initiative, which is due to be rolled out to a further 15 countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa in April, is part of Oracle's ongoing commitment to supporting its ISV partners and creating joint business. All of the solutions featured in the Oracle SMB Network were developed on the Oracle technology stack, providing much-needed scalability, reliability and security to the growing businesses that use them.

According to Tim Payne, senior director of Technology marketing for Oracle EMEA, the initiative represents the first ever one-stop-shop for SMBs looking for new software. "Before we launched the Oracle SMB Network there was no single, comprehensive place for SMBs in Europe to search for business solutions," he said. "The feedback from the pilot has been outstanding and demonstrates that SMBs want world-class solutions, specific to their industry needs."

ISVs who are not currently working with Oracle but who are interested in being featured in the Oracle SMB Network can take advantage of the Oracle PartnerNetwork QuickStart program. Under this programme, ISVs with a solution for the midmarket can become an Oracle partner for a reduced fee of just €250.00. The membership agreement also includes sales and distribution rights for Oracle Database 10g Standard Edition One, Oracle's single or dual-processor database that caters to SMBs' needs and budgets.
